Windows 7 released in UK
The latest version of Windows operating system from Microsoft, Windows 7 was released yesterday the 23rd of October. A month before the release Microsoft sold thousands of copies to eager Windows enthusiast who were keep to book a copy so that they can start using Windows7 as soon as it was released yesterday. The pre-released version sold out on Amazon almost immediately it was made available.
Queues were reported at leading High Street PC retail outlet PC World with Windows 7 enthusiast buying personal computers preloaded with Windows 7. A spokesperson for PC World said Windows 7 packages were selling at a rate of three per minute between midnight and 0100BST.
Windows 7 is build on a completely new architecture to previous version of Windows operating systems, unlike previous version of Windows, you cannot upgrade say Windows Vista to Windows 7, you have to format you computer, remove Vista completely and install Windows 7. Windows 7 is the most thoroughly tested version of Windows operating system ever.
Microsoft’s UK managing director Ashley Highfield said Windows 7 marked a “new dawn in Microsoft’s relationship with the consumer”.
“Windows 7 is much more than a collection of new features. We have listened to what consumers want and they want something that makes their lives easier,” said Mr Highfield.
The operating system has already been in beta testing among eight million official users, and a farther seven million unofficial testers have also used it.
